Paralegal Trademark

The paralegal trademark is responsible for working with in-house attorneys and outside counsel to administer the Company's trademark portfolio. This includes primary responsibility for maintaining the Company's database for all domestic and foreign trademarks. Other responsibilities include preparing and filing domestic and Canadian trademark applications, preparing and filing office action responses, working with outside counsel on foreign and domestic trademark matters, and maintaining records of worldwide trademarks, oppositions and cancellation and conflict matters.

Paralegal Trademark Service

The trademark paralegal service is deeply involved in working with business unit personnel on trademark matters including searches for new product names and slogans and gathering evidence of use for different domestic and foreign trademarks. The trademark paralegal prepares reports on trademark activity as needed, assists with review of watch notices, performs internet research projects and other particular projects as requested and assists with trademark matters during divestitures and acquisitions. The position is a high activity position, which requires the paralegal to handle multiple projects under tight timelines. The trademark Paralegal will also assist with enforcing the brand on the Internet, handling cease and desist of IP matters, and granting and securing 3rd party permission requests. The IP Paralegal will also assist in basic copyright and patent application matters, though previous knowledge of patents is not a requirement.
