Trademark CTM
The abbreviation CTM means community Trademark. By community trademark the registered proprietor or user gets registration rights as a whole (rather than on a national level). It is a medium through which a single trademark can be registered in all the member states of the European Union. A CTM registration is enforceable in all member states of the European Union. Although the biggest disadvantage of CTM is that any opposition or objection from any of the member states tends to defeat the entire application.
Community Trademark CTM
Community trademark gives exclusive advantage to the proprietor or user to file a single application concerning all states coming within the sphere of European Union. It identifies origin of goods and services, guarantees consistent quality and is a sort of communication, a medium for publicity. The initial cost of filing a CTM application is much less as compared to separate filing of applications in respective member states. Although CTM guarantees a more reasonable and efficient procedure of filing but it has not been as successful as separate filing of application in different states.
